50th Day of Kindergarten and the First Thanksgiving

Wow it is hard to believe we have already had 50 days of kindergarten!!! Time is going so fast for us :) We had a blast celebrating the 50th day of kindergarten 50's style. The students had a sock hop, bowling, bubble blowing contest, and hula hooping to celebrate the 50's. I had to explain that things in the 50's were much different then now. We also did record patterning and enjoyed coke floats. The students had a hard time believing there were no computers and people would actually wear poodle skirts! The biggest hit of the day was the saddle shoes that I borrowed from another teacher :) Here are some pictures of our celebration:

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and we have been learning about the first Thanksgiving. The students enjoyed making a bracelet that symbolizes the first Thanksgiving between the pilgrims and Native Americans. We also had fun making our cut out turkeys and learning about the teepees and pueblos that the Native Americans lived in.

Halloween Parade and Party

We had a very successful Halloween :) In the morning we were in a costume parade around the school and in the afternoon we got to enjoy some fun Halloween games and crafts. Here are some pictures of our costumes and Halloween celebration!!! Feel free to watch the slideshow or click on the slideshow to see the photo album!

This week we are learning about owls. Hopefully the students came home with a lot of new information about spiders last week! We will have the naturalist back on Thursday to share some new facts and information about owls. Our letter of the week this week is letter A. We are learning the short A sound with a little help from our letter person Mrs. A.
