Pumpkin Patch and Fire Department

We have had a very eventful week in kindergarten! We had a blast at the pumpkin patch on Monday. We started out the day learning some facts about pumpkins and how they grow! We then had a chance to explore the pumpkin patch. We went on a hayride to pick out pumpkins, played mini golf, walked through a corn maze, saw real goats and hens in the petting area, rode bikes, and played on the playground in fairytale land! Here are some pictures from our day at the pumpkin patch!

On Wednesday we visited the fire department and learned many safety tips from the firefighters! We also had a chance to tour some of the fire trucks at the station! We learned about finding a meeting place with our families in case of a fire! We will be learning about fire safety for the rest of the week!

Wednesday afternoon we participated in a school wide walk at the high school track! We walked with all of the students in the district and then had a sack lunch picnic outside!

Apples and Johnny Appleseed!

This week we have been learning all about Johnny Appleseeds and apples! We started the week by doing an apple sequencing activity!

During math we read the book, "Ten Apples on Top". The kindergarteners enjoyed this book and had fun counting out ten apples to put on top of their own heads!

We learned all about Johnny Appleseed and his life and created a guided writing about Johnny Appleseed. The students tried really hard on their writings and they turned out great!

At the end of the week the kindergarteners made homemade applesauce! They chopped the apples, measured the ingredients and of course got to enjoy a yummy snack at the end of the day! We all loved the smell of fresh baked applesauce in the kindergarten hallway!

We will be going to Poppe Pumpkin Patch in Lakefield, Minnesota on October 7th. Please make sure to send appropriate clothing for this field trip. We will be leaving the school around 8:45 and be returning at approximately 2:20. This is such an exciting day for the kindergarteners! The school will be providing sack lunches for all of the kindergarteners. This will be taken out of their lunch accounts so you will not need to worry about sending a lunch for this field trip! Here is a link to Poppe's website so you can look at some of the fun things we will be doing on the field trip:
