On Monday, we imagined what it would be like if we lived in a snow globe and wrote a story about what we would do if we lived in a snowglobe.
On Tuesday, we read the book, "Snowmen at Night" online at http://www.wegivebooks.org/books/snowmen-at-night. The students loved looking at the book on the big screen and had fun imagining what our snowmen would do at night.
We really enjoyed the book, "If you take a Mouse to the Movies." After reading the book we brainstormed other things that the mouse might want! As I wrote it on the chart paper the students practiced writing with individual whiteboards.
Then, the students wrote about what they would want if you take them to the movies.
On Friday, we explored the fastest way to melt an ice cube. Each student had a partner and they took turns rolling the dice trying to melt their ice cubes. For each roll the students did something to try and melt their ice cubes (blow on it, put 10 shakes of salt on it, put it in water for ten seconds, put it down their shirt, hold it in their hand for ten seconds, and drop it). As you can tell from the pictures they had a blast! After we were done the students thought that sticking the ice cube in water was the fastest way to melt the ice cube!
