Making our Snoopy May day baskets was a lot of fun. I was really happy and surprised that the kids still know who Snoopy is :) We learned about the tradition of May day and how they used to use flowers to symbolize the beginning of May. We were also very sneaky in delivering our baskets :)
Our reading buddies came over to teach us all about Cinco de Mayo and the traditions that are celebrated in Mexico.
They helped us to make cascarones (confetti eggs). These are often made and decorated as a Cinco de Mayo tradition. The egg has two small holes to blow out the yolk and then the egg is decorated and filled with confetti. The kids had a blast trying to to blow yolk out of the eggs and decorating them. They also helped us to color Mexican flags and read us poetry about Cinco de Mayo. Here are some pictures:
Last but not least I have many great pictures of the kids today from our concert! They did a fabulous job at the concert :) We really do have some great singers in our class!
