November Kindergarten News
Here is the November Kindergarten News! I will be sending this through email as well. The new snack calendar will also be on here in the next couple of days. We had a naturalist come in to talk about spiders today! We learned a lot of great information about arachnids :) The students will be able to tell you many interesting facts about spiders! He also told the students not to squish spiders around your house or garden so you may be finding a few more little creatures walking around :)

During discovery we are learning about spiders!!! We made a Wordle about what we know about spiders at the beginning of the week. We will have a lot to add by the end of the week!

Pumpkin Patch and Carving Pumpkins!
We had a very exciting week! On Tuesday we went to the pumpkin patch! We took a class hayride and we each got our own pumpkin! We had a lot of time to play at the pumpkin patch. Our favorites were the miniature golf course, goat petting and the large playland at the park! Here are some pictures from the pumpkin patch:
On Friday we carved a class pumpkin. We made our class pumpkin on Starfall.com before we carved it out. We voted on the eyes, nose and mouth and our pumpkin turned out great! Here are some pictures of us carving out our class pumpkin. As you can see some of us did not want to touch the seeds and insides of the pumpkin :)

Fire Station Trip!
This week we took a trip to the Fire Station! We had a chance to meet the local firefighters and find out more about what they do. The students even got a chance to squirt the water from the fire hose. It was such a great trip! The kids had a blast and learned a lot about fire safety. They talked to the students about what to do if they are in a fire. They practiced stop, drop and roll; and stay low and go. They also were told to find a safe spot for their family to meet outside their house in case of a fire. Here are some pictures from our trip! Feel free to click on the slideshow to see the album.

Digital Storytelling: Mr. M Likes to Munch and We Like......
Last week we learned about our Mr. M puppet. Mr. M loves to munch food that starts with m. The students enjoyed learning all about the letter m. We learned the sound m makes, how to write the letter m, and many words that start with the letter m. We had a blast making a book and story video about what we like to do! Here is the video our class made! I will be sending our class book and dvd around as a traveling bag so you can view our pictures and stories on video as a family.
