Class Fishing Trip!

We had a great time fishing this week! The weather could not have been better and we could not have been more excited! Each student was paired up with a DNR helper while fishing. Our class caught many fish and lost a few bites as well! We had a blast learning about many different types of fish, frogs, and plants!

Fun with Apples!

Last week we learned all about apples and Johnny Appleseed. We had fun completing our apple investigation. In the investigation we measured, weighed, graphed and ate our apples :D At the end of the week we enjoyed making and eating applesauce. I must admit our class has a lot of great cooks! 


This week we are introducing the letter M and beginning our Handwriting Without Tears program. The students enjoyed learning new sight words and meeting Mr. Munching M. Our mini-unit for this week is all about me. 


We are going fishing tomorrow! The weather forecast looks perfect :) Please be sure to send comfortable clothes and tennis shoes.

Homecoming Visitors and Fishing Trip!

We had a wonderful homecoming week! Our dress up days were very successful! We enjoyed the pep rally and parade today! We also had many homecoming visitors throughout the week. We had a member of each high school team come over so we could give them their good luck cards we made! We also had a visit from the cheerleaders after our pep assembly! 


Our kindergarten class will be going fishing at the Fish Hatchery next Tuesday, September 20th. We will be leaving the school at 1:45 and return at 3:00. Please have your child wear comfortable shoes. If it is cool on Tuesday, please send a jacket or sweatshirt! 


The DNR will have poles and bait for the students to use. Please do not send any fishing equipment to school with your child. If you would like to join us you may meet us at the ponds by the Fish Hatchery!

Fun Friday and Pajama Monday!

We had fun sidewalk chalking our name, letters and numbers on Friday afternoon!! We also did many activities to help us learn our colors. Some of the activities included: creating a classroom book "In My Red Wagon",  learning the song Twinkle, Twinkle Yellow Star,  painting our glowing star portrait, and creating our green alligator posters! This week we will be doing many different activities about apples!


This week is homecoming week! During our writing time we are showing our school spirit by writing good luck cards for the teams this week! Here is our dress up schedule for the week:


Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Jersey Day
Wednesday: 80's Day
Thursday: Clash Day
Friday: Spirit Day (wear red and black)

Just a quick reminder that tomorrow is picture day! I send home the photo forms in the Friday folder. I will also be sending you our kindergarten newsletter through email. The Second Week!

Hard to believe we have already had our first week of kindergarten! Time seemed to fly last week. We had a great week getting to know each others names, the classroom, and our school! This week we have started to work on colors. We have many exciting activities planned for each color throughout the week. We also start our letter people this week starting with the letters m and t. In math we have learned about patterning as well as how to write the numbers one through four and will continue with our numbers throughout the week. Our unit for discovery this week is a safe and caring learning environment. We are learning about what we do to help out in our school as well as who helps make the school a safe and caring environment. The students were very excited to get a chance to use the computers during center time today. They learned a fun game to practice their colors!
